The hell of high expectations — some thoughts from the @john gorman piece.

Preachers would say have high expectations- dream big and ask big so God can have room to move and do major things in your life with His glory.

I would agree with the preachers. But still caution myself that people and humans in general have distractions and will not always live up to my expectations. In the (satisfaction = event - expectation) equation, the lower your expectations are, the more satisfied you will be, and a more delightful experience will result if the event experience is greater. And thats the surprise element.

This is quite something. But lets talk about contentment for a bit.

Contentment here is = satisfaction, but without the event and expectation side of the equation. At some point you must realise that what you have / who you are is enough. And everything else that comes is a bonus.

I think you should not seek for more or aspire to have what Jeff Bezos, or better yet, what Warren Buffett has collected over his 7 decades of life. He could be drowning in his billions bro and he could be unhappy (But Warren is not unhappy, I know. I read that Financial Times article).

I know its probably different being sad and unhappy inside a 7 foot yatch in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea on the way from Venice to Santorini, but alas, your Toyota Camry could also just be the peace bro?

Just be, fam.
