I was reading the early chapters of the book of Exodus the other day. And at a point, Moses comes into the presence of YAHWEH, who then introduces himself as El Shaddai. And Moses is struck with profound fear, and he has to close his eyes.

So, Elohim then tells Moses of who He is, and that He is the same one whom his ancestors revered. And that He knows them, his father and forefathers by name, just the same as He knows Moses by name.

Moses’s fear then dissipates and he starts to be able to hold conversation. Revealing his fears, and his doubt, and his doubts about himself and what he is capable of. Its a conversation that carries on, an agreement is reached and some settlements and promises are arrived at.

There is also an argument in there, and a petition. But there is also, in a wider lense, an entire conversation that then stretches over the following chapters, where they go back and forth in petitions and pep talks, and requests and pleas. And each time an act, a sign, an action results from each of their conversations.

Each of these conversations are prayer.

You should do it too.

It worked for Moses.
