Marry, in the presence of God.

One of my mentees at Deloitte invited me to his wedding in 2015. A very simple affair. Just muted pomp and ceremony, but good enough to make good of a solemn promise to God to come into their lives and to celebrate their joy in finding each other.

He checks in with me now and again. His wife is Portuguese and he had to learn the language to be able to love her properly. Im a guest and a friend in their lives, he comes to me via Facebook messenger to update me on their path, they have two kids now and they live in Portugal.

When I went to Brazil he kept sending me tips on how to convo in Portuguese to be able to get by in the foreign land. How to ask for coffee in the cafes in the morning, and how to ask for milk, and extra sugar.

I haven't spoken to him in a while, he now goes by the name of Paulo.

He has adopted the Portuguese culture. And I can tell that his walk with Christ, for him and his wife, has been blissful. And I am delighted that I can look up to him. Just as he did when I introduced him into the world of auditing, those many years back.
