From time.

Athina.

I came to Athens to celebrate my 44th this coming Sunday. Its hot as hell, not any better than Cairo, but its got a better ambiance and I can squeeze in some bike touring. Something that I wanted to do for a long time.

Last time I was in Greece was 2008, in February of that year. It was a dark time and I fell into a deep depression while I was here and had to be hospitalised. I cant remember how long I was out for, but it took a couple of months to regain myself.

I’ve come back here to get a better memory of the place and to erase my abrupt departure from that time. This time I leave under my own terms. I have a fresh pair of glasses and I can see clearer now.

Its a pilgrimage of sorts.

The country, and its people are a deep fascination for me. And I glee at their history of never having colonised a country in Africa. And Zack Snyder's 300 remains a firm favourite. Architects, Philosophers and Mathematicians who gave democracy to the world 💙✊🏽
